Business community deserves credit for work with school

The Work Awareness and Transition (WAT) class at James Madison High School would like to thank the business community in Vienna and Oakton for their support during this past school year. WAT endeavors to find unpaid internships for students with various needs to provide a nurturing work experience, matching a student's interests and abilities with an employer's needs.

The commitment is considerable for a business, as many hours of mentoring, training and managing is provided by the employers. We would like to thank the following businesses for welcoming our students into their place of business and providing a great year of work experience for these young men and women:

Joe Merenda at Pie Gourmet, Linda Greene at American Cancer Society, Anne Granger at Northern Virginia Family Services, Jeanette Black at Vienna Elementary School, Meredith Schwab at Outback Steakhouse, Frank McLellan at James Madison Shell, Eric Cox of Cox Farm Markets, Charlie C'Debaca at Auction House Online, and Lee Taylor at Vienna Presbyterian Church.

These individuals have provided a wonderful service for our students, and we are grateful for their commitment to educating youth in the workplace.
