Rain suspends host team's game

Greater Loudoun’s attempt to secure first place in the Babe Ruth 13U World Series’ National Division will have to wait at least 12 hours.

The Lions were tied 2-2 with Hopewell Valley, N.J. when lightning and rain halted play in the fourth inning Monday at 9:07 p.m. The game will be resumed where it left off – the top of the fourth inning with one out and the bases empty for Hopewell Valley -- Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Greater Loudoun (2-0) can secure first place and a bye into the semifinals with a victory in either of its final two pool play games. The Lions are also scheduled to play Youngstown, Ohio on Tuesday at 8 p.m. to close out pool play.
