Reel DVD Pick of the Week

'Speed Racer'

There's plenty of "Speed Racer" out on DVD, including several volumes of the original series that, in the tradition of Japanese anime, celebrated the concept of minimal character movement (Disney be darned!) and lots of saucer-eyed, prone-to-sudden-gasps characters. There's also a set featuring "Speed Racer: The Next Generation," which updates the character from a jet-black-haired youngster to a brown-haired muscle stud. All volumes are available at Amazon.com, but a few are available for rent on Netflix.

'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' (PG)

Starring: Ben Barnes, Tilda Swinton

The lion (or is that Jesus?) is back, as is the White Witch (or is that Satan?) in this adaptation of the second book by C.S. Lewis. The four siblings return to Narnia a year later to discover their beloved fantasy land in turmoil. They team with a heroic prince to overthrow the tyranny at hand. Opens Friday.


'What Happens in Vegas' (PG-13)

Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Cameron Diaz

After a night of drinking in Vegas, two strangers find themselves married to one another. Whoopsie.


'Baby Mama' (PG-13)

Starring: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler

Fey, whose "30 Rock" is the funniest comedy on TV, stars with her former SNL colleague in this laugh-fest about surrogate motherhood. Break out the cigars -- this one's an instant hit!


'Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay' (R)

Starring: John Cho, Kal Penn

When caught smuggling a bong on an international flight, the "Cheech & Chong" for today's generation are suspected of being terrorists and try to outrun the authorities. Yes, Neil Patrick Harris is back.
