Pageant to celebrate the beauty of seniors

Starting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at the James E. Lee Senior Center in Falls Church, seven women, 60 and older, will seek the title of Ms. Virginia America 2008 at a pageant where wrinkles that come with age are not masked, they're celebrated.

Ms Virginia Senior America, Brenda Brokaw will retire her crown as the new 2008 winner is chosen. Among the finalists are two Annandale residents, Bessie Saunders and, Ruth Early Barnett. The other five are June Burks of Big Island; Diane Yopp from Christiansburg; Suzi Athanas of Virginia Beach; Betty Mann from Richmond; and Carolyn Bledsoe of Hamilton.

The winner will go on to the Ms. Senior America Pagaent in Atlantic City, Oct. 19-25.
