Lord and Lady Fairfax honorees named
Kerrie B. Wilson (at-large), Frank Crandall and Pamela Beck Danner (Dranesville), and B.J. and Marilyn Silvey (Hunter Mill) were among the honorees named Lords and Ladies of Fairfax.
This tradition, which began in 1984, recognizes outstanding citizens of Fairfax County who have demonstrated exceptional volunteering, heroism or other special accomplishments. The awards ceremony will take place June 2.
Paul earns Eagle Scout rank
Brian Paul of Herndon Scout Troop 913 has earned the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in all of Scouting. Only 4 percent of Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle.
For his project, Paul chose to redevelop an area into a natural garden where classrooms look onto the loading/delivery area behind St. Joseph's Church and School.
Paul is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Paul. He was recognized at a Court of Honor April 13.
Shelby graduates from Hampden-Sydney College
Richard James Shelby was among 216 men who graduated May 11 from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney. Shelby, a graduate of James Madison High School in Vienna, graduated with a bachelor's degree in history.
Students named to dean's list at American University
Hallie Baker and Kye Lee, both of McLean, and Alexandra Basha, of Vienna, were named to the fall 2007 dean's list at American University in Washington, D.C. Baker is a junior majoring in business, and Lee, a junior, and Basha, a senior, are majoring in international studies. Students must attain a 3.5 GPA in order to receive this honor.
