Police investigate two Herndon robberies

Fairfax County Police are investigating two armed robberies in the Herndon area that occurred within minutes of each other early Friday morning.

A 25-year-old Herndon man parked his car in the 2500 block of John Eppes Road around 12:30 a.m. and began walking two his apartment when a man walked up to him, pointed a gun at him and demanded money, police said. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled.

A few minutes later, a 27-year-old Herndon woman was sitting inside her car with a 25-year-old Herndon man, parked on William Short Circle, when a man approached and tapped on the window. The victims did not acknowledge the man, and he opened the car door and pointed a gun at them, police said. The suspect ordered them to hand over their money, but the victims did not comply and the suspect fled, according to police.

In both incidents, the suspect was described as white or Hispanic and about 25 years old, police said. He was about 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 130 to 150 pounds. He wore a red, hooded sweatshirt, dark baseball cap and a black mask in the second robbery, police said.
