Herndon Festival starts Thursday

This year's Herndon Festival is expected to draw nearly 100,000 visitors and has a few new surprises.

Volkswagen of America is this year's title sponsor and brings some new festivities to the 28th annual event.

Music, as always, is also a highly anticipated part of the festival. “It is a great lineup this year, if I do say so myself," said Holly Popple, who coordinates all the musical acts for the festival every year.

This year's festival will take place from Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1. For more information about the festival, visit herndonfestival.net.
