Street in Annandale renamed for Tom Davis

Annandale Center Drive, which runs between Columbia Pike and John Marr Drive in Annandale, was recently renamed Tom Davis Drive in honor of outgoing U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-11th).
Fairfax County changed the street sign in mid May as a result of a request made by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, which in turn was brought to the county’s attention in March by supervisors Penelope Gross (Mason District) and Sharon Bulova (Braddock District), both Democrats. Gross and Bulova each represent portions of Annandale.
A seven-term congressman, Davis previously served as Fairfax County Supervisor for the Mason District from 1980 to 1991, and as chairman of the Board of Supervisors from 1991 until his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994. In January, Davis announced he would not seek reelection to Congress.
