Evangel Stops NVCA in Shootout

By coachcuffee

Plagued by foul trouble for most of the game, NVCA fell to Evangel Christian, Dale City Monday night in non-conference play.
Evangel's Caleb Lambert went 12-16 from the free throw line(including 8-10 in the decisive fourth quarter) and finished with a game-high 28 points. Lambert also hit on four 3-pointers. NVCA had its highest point production of the season and had four players finish in double figures led by sophomore forward Sam Rattray's 20. Tyler Koons added 15, Simon Chu 11, and Terrance Watson 10 for NVCA.
The Falcons led 22-14 when starting point guard Bobak Sharifi picked up his third foul of the half midway through the second quarter. Starting forward Chris Fricke soon followed with his third foul of the half. Evangel ceased the momentum and took a 29-28 half-time lead and never trailed for the remainder of the game. NVCA remained winless on the season dropping to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
The Falcons take on Christian Faith and Fellowship this Friday as the school celebrates Homecoming.
