Christs Chapel Tops NVCA

By coachcuffee

NVCA varsity boys got off to their best start of the young season but fell short in a 56-54 lost at Christ Chapel Academy in Woodbridge. Early cold shooting had plagued the Falcons all season up to this point. NVCA jumped out to an early 10-4 lead, forcing Christ Chapel into several turnovers with their fullcourt press.
Christ Chapel responded with a 6-0 run to close the first half and take a 29-26 lead into the break. The second half was marked by several lead changes.
Christ Chapel's free throw shooting was clutch in the closing minutes. Christ Chapel converted on 7 free throws in the fourth quarter. Christ Chapel's Ian Colbert led all scorers with 27 points hitting on three 3-pointers. Sophomore Sam Rattray led the Falcons with a season high 21. Chris Fricke (12), Bobak Sharifi(10), and Tyler Koons(9) combined for all but two of NVCA's remaining points. NVCA is off until the new year when they will host Loundon County Home School on Jan 3 at Hoop Magic in Chantilly.
